Having TESOL certification is a big boost to earning potential and opening doors. To earn certification, you must join a TESOL program and pass a course.

8/28 Vegetarianism

Vegetarianism is not just a fad but a lifestyle.

Some abstain from all animal products including dairy foods.

Others cut out eggs and anything that is a by-product of an animal like wool or leather.

We all live a modern reality of environmental crisis and generically modified food. Practicing vegetarianism can help alleviate some of these global problems.

8/27 Choo Shin-soo

One thing I try not to miss is the sports news.

One name they always mention is Choo Shin-soo.

He's on fire these days!

He was actually a pitcher but later converted to an outfielder.

I don't really spend a lot of time in front of the TV but one thing I try not to miss is the sports news. And one name they always mention is Choo Shin-soo. He's on fire these days! Choo,nicknamed "Choo-Choo Train," is a Korean outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds. Before playing in the Big Leagues, he was one of the best high school ball player in Korea. He was actually a pitcher but later converted to an outfielder. His early professional baseball career was anything but smooth. He didn't get a lot of playing time in the Majors. However, he never gave up his dream. Now, he has become an outstanding lead-off hitter for the Reds.

8/26 Prenatal Learning

Many parents believe prenatal education is the way to give their child a head start.

Prenatal learning aims to provide your unborn child with an optimal learning environment.

Since a baby's development begins in the womb, the learning ability begins at this phase.

The brain is most receptive to learning during the prenatal months.

ex> The audience was very receptive to the speaker and cheered him on.

Prenatal learning can awaken and influence a baby's intellectual development down the road.

PE 8/23 Learning Compassion

Did you know that you can learn to be more compassionate? A new study shows that through meditation and by consciously reaching out to someone in need, you can become a more compassionate person.

They are well beyond the age of independence.

Some of them are dependent on their parents financially.

They can become a burden to their parents who are approaching the retirement age.

The number of the Kangaroo tribe has increased substantially in the past decade.

They were forced to be in that position.

They couldn't get a job or their wages were insufficient to support themselves.

The Kangaroo tribe refers to young people who live with their parents although they are well beyond the age of independence
Some of them are dependent on their parents financially, as well as psychologically
As a result, they can become a burden to their parents who are approaching the retirement age. 
In Korea, the number of the Kangaroo tribe has increased substantially in the past decade
Some of them didn't choose to become a member of the Kangaroo tribe. 
They were forced to be in that position because they couldn't get a job or their wages were insufficient to support themselves.

8/22 Seodang

Korean parents are well-known for their enthusiastic support for their children's education.
* enthusiastic: 열정적인, 열광적인
ex> Some enthusiastic fans followed him to the stage.

That made me wonder, have they always been like that?

ex> His comment made her wonder for a second.

I realized that it might have originated from seodang.
* might have: ~했을 수도 있다, ~했을지도 모르다
ex> She might have been confused.

Seodang was a private village school that provided elementary education during the Goryeo and Joseon Dynasty.
ex> He didn't even have elementary knowledge about baseball.

In the seodang, boys from 7 to 16 years old learned to read the Thousand Character Classic and acquired basic idea of Confucianism.
* acquire: 습득하다, 인수하다, 배우다
ex> I have acquired a good knowledge of German.
* Thousand Charactr Classic: 천자문
* Confucianism: 유교, 유교 사상

Not only the yangban children, but commoners and even slaves were taught at these seodangs.

It was worth every penny. 정말 돈이 안 아까웠어.
