1. the cat that swallowed the canary: 한 건 해서 기분이 좋은 사람, 큰 성공을 거둔 사람
ex> I knew he was planning something because he looked like the cat that swallowed the canary.
ex> What happened? You look like the cat that swallowed the canary.

2. keep ~ hanging (in the midair): ~을 안달 나게 하다
ex> Hurry up and tell me what she said! Don't keep me hanging.
ex> Don't keep us hanging in the midair.

3. not on your life: 죽었다 깨어나도 안 돼, 절대 안돼
ex> He wanted to see my test notes, but I told him, "Not on your life!"

* spit it out: 말해!  ex> If you've got something to say, spit it out!
