Remember
I told you about that excellent business plan development program I’ve been
taking? Well, in going over my materials, everything seems to point to my
needing a partner to get my new shoe
company off the ground.
* get something off the ground: to get
started; set into motion
ex>
Once the design project got off the ground, the product’s success was
certain.
That’s
not such a bad thing. The right partner can bring a lot to the table
and free you up to focus on what you’re best at, like your designs and
marketing.
* bring to the table: to have the skills
or resources to make a significant contribution
ex>
What I bring to the table is honesty, reliability, and considerable
personal wealth.
* free one up: to unburden: Selling its
unprofitable gasoline engine division will free the company up to move
forward.
I’ve
been able to get my head around
that, but what concerns me is how to find someone I really click with.
* get one’s head around: to accept a new
concept, situation or information
ex>
Once he got his head around calculus, his engineering studies went much
more smoothly.
* click with: to be effortlessly
compatible with
=
connect with; get along with; eye-to-eye with
ex>
Larry seems to really click with his new trombone teacher.
