PE 3/1 Food Trucks


1. hard pressed: 쪼들리는, ~하기 매우 어려운
ex> You would be hard-pressed to find a better secretary.

2. cash in on: ~으로 돈을 벌다, ~에 편승하다
ex> This is a good year for farming, and you can cash in on it if you're smart.
cf> cash in on one's sudden popularity: 갑작스러운 인기에 편승하여 이득을 보다

3. jump the shark: 한물가다, (정점을 지나) 내림세로 접어들다
This comes from the TV series Happy Days, in which on one show a character jumped over a shark while waterskiing.

* take off: 급격히 인기를 얻다[유행하다]  ex> The new magazine has really taken off.

* roam around: 돌아다니다  ex> Dogs and cats require more space to roam around.

* hipster: 최신 정보통, 박식한 사람   cf> hipster jeans: 골반바지형 청바지

* foodie: people who enjoy cooking and eating different kinds of food.
ex> Other neighborhoods in the city offer foodies a choice of Chinese, Portuguess or Greek food.
