PE 3/29 Going Back to Work
1. cut ~ short: make sth end before the natural time; interrupt sth. ~을 갑자기 중단하다
ex> I am sorry, but I have to cut this call short, I have a client on the other line.
ex> We'll have to cut our stay short, I'm afraid. My husband's father is seriously ill.
cf> cut it short. 간단히 말해라!
2. topsy-turvy [|tɑ:psi |t3:rvi]: 복잡한, 뒤죽박죽인
ex> It's a topsy-turvy world, so don't expect life to flow smoothly!
ex> Everything's topsy-turvy in my life at the moment.
3. long in the tooth: 나이가 많은, 늙은
ex> He is my favorite action hero, but these days he is looking really long in the tooth.
ex> The donkey long in the tooth walked very slow.
