11/29 Internationalizing Korean Food

DIALOG>> Korean food is going global.

Are you familiar with Korean food?

I guess the government's efforts are paying off.

ex> All of our hard work paid off.

Korean cuisine is gaining a lot of attention internationally recently.

A lot more Korean restaurants are opening up in other countries.
* open up: 문을 열다.
ex> I can't wait for this restaurant to open up in Korea.


RESPONSE>> Talk about efforts to internationalizing Korean food.

Korean cuisine is becoming more popular in other countries.
* cuisine [kwizíːn]: 요리
ex> Korean cuisine is starting to gain recognition by many foreigners.

This is not without reason. 이유가 없는 것이 아니다. -> 강한 긍정

The government has been working hard to get Korean food international recognition.
ex> This book helped the author get international recognition.

There is a major campaign to globalize Korean cuisine.
ex> Many singers are working hard to globalize Korean music.

Civic groups have been busy putting together food festivals and expos to spread Korean food.
* put together: 만들다.

One hurdle was the fact that foreigners have a hard time pronouncing Korean dishes.
* hurdle: 장애물

There is no doubt that Korean food is tasty and healthy.
ex> Eating breakfast is healthy and good for diets.

It won't be long before we will see Korean food all over the world.
* It won't be long before: 머지 않아 ~할 것이다.

I'm going to make a strong appeal. 강하게 항의를 해야겠다.

1. K-pop is getting more international recognition these days.
2. We have tried to globalize our brand.
3. You can open up to me and tell me whatever you want.
4. I believe that all my efforts will pay off some day.
