3/25 Memorable Text Message

Talk about a text message that you remember.

Well, I remember one of my friends texting me one day a few years back. He actually told me that he was getting married. He asked me my address to send me the wedding invitation. I did not expect him to get married so suddenly, because he hadn't been going out with anyone. He told me that he proposed to his fiancée only six months after they had met. We exchanged several text messages back and forth. I told him that I would be at his wedding. So, that's the text message I remember. It was about my friend telling me that he was getting married.

2/20 What kind of text messages do you send and receive?

I send and receive text messages for various things. Some are personal while others are work-related.

* personal / work-related: 개인적인/업무와 관련된

ex> She makes too many personal calls at work.

ex> None of them were work-related.

With friends, I do a lot of catching up through text messages.

I can’t pinpoint just one topic that we talk about. We talk about a whole bunch of issues.

* pinpoint: 꼬집어서 말하다

ex> I didn't want to pinpoint whose fault it was.

* a whole bunch of: 다양한

ex> We discovered a whole bunch of problems.

I also get a lot of ads via texts. Many of them are annoying, so I filter them out.

I also receive text messages from my bank and my credit card company. I get texts when there is a change in my balance.

ex> There hasn't been that much change in my balance this year.

Last of all, these days, I also get a lot of texts for verification purposes.

We send a lot of text messages with our cell phones.

ex> I can send up to 100 text messages for free.

The shorter ones are called SNS(Short Message Service) while the longer ones that you can attach images on are called MMS(Multimedia Messaging Service).

ex> You can attach up to three images on text messages.

Normally you have to pay a fee for each text. But depending on your payment plan, you can send a certain number of texts for free.

Overall, texting has become one of the most general means of communicating in our lives.

People text as often as they make phone calls these days.
* make a phone call: 전화를 걸다.
* text: 문자, 문자를 보내다.
ex> Let's text each other when we're ready to leave.

Text messaging is a very fast and efficient way of getting your message across.
* get one's message across: 메시지를 전하다.
ex> Email is more efficient than ordinary mail.

The other person will get it instantly.

Longer ones, or ones with pictures and video clips attached, are called MMS.

Some people can text super fast without even looking at their phones.

One annoying thing about text messages is that you get spam texts.

I just delete them immediately and block the number.
