3/19 Talk about your adolescent years.

I remember being a little rebellious in my adolescence.
* rebellious [rɪ|beljəs]: 반항적인
* adolescence [|ӕdə|lesns] : 사춘기
ex> I think I was in my own world in my adolescence.
ex> I went through a lot in my adolescence.

I kept secrets from my parents all the time. They didn't like me talking on the phone for a long time either.
* keep secrets from: ~에게 비밀을 갖다
ex> I don’t want you to keep secrets from me.

I had a curfew too. I got into trouble because I broke it from time to time.
* curfew [|k3:rfju:] : 통금
ex> I had a curfew until the day I was married.

I would occasionally get into fights. My mother had to come to my school when that happened.
* get into fights: 싸우다
ex> He used to get into fights very often.

Overall, I did give my parents a hard time when I was a teenager. I feel sorry for how I behaved.
* give someone a hard time: ~을 힘들게 하다, ~의 속을 썩이다
ex> He gave me a hard time when we broke up.

@ Your son is very well-behaved. I like him so much.  아들이 참 예의가 바르네요.

DIALOG>> How were you in your adolescent years?

How were you in your adolescent years?

I always broke my curfew.
* break one's curfew: ~의 통금을 어기다.

I sometimes got into fights and my mom had to come down to my school.

My grades started to drop.

Those were some of our toughest years!


RESPONSE>> Talk about what your adolescent years were like.

My adolescent years were quite rough.
* adolescent year: 사춘기
ex> My adolescent years went by very fast.

I was very rebellious and always butted heads with my parents.
* rebellious: 반항적인
* butt heads with: ~와 싸우다.
ex> My older brother was very rebellious in his 20's.
ex> I've been butting heads with my coworkers for weeks.

I started to hang out with my friends more.
* hang out with: ~와 어울리다.

That made me keep secrets from my parents all the time.
* keep secrets from: ~에게는 비밀로 하다.
ex> We had to keep secrets from him to plan his surprise birthday party.

I also started to develop strong feelings for girls.
* develop strong feelings for: ~에 대한 강한 감정을 갖게 되다.

The biggest problem was that my grades were falling.
ex> His grades fell when he started dating.

I think I gave my parents a hard time during my teenage years.
ex> My friends gave me a hard time about my new haircut.

I feel sorry for how I behaved.

I'm trying to make it up to them now that I'm in college.
* make up to: ~에게 신세를 갚다, 잘못을 만회하다.
