PE 7/15 Shopping for a Family Car - part 2


* keep one’s eyes peeled: to watch closely for something
ex> Please keep your eyes peeled for a gas station.

* fall apart: to break into several pieces; stop functioning due to wear, poor assembly, etc
ex> My computer began to fall apart when the warranty expired.

* plain-Jane: basic; ordinary; not fancy
ex> We could order a plain-Jane pizza, or get one with all the toppings.
Note> Plain Jane often refers to a woman who has an average appearance. She is neither pretty nor ugly.

* pizzazz: a quality that causes excitement; vitality; liveliness
ex> Her paintings have a lot of pizzazz.
ex> The musicians are all good, but the band is lacking in pizzazz.

* eye-catching: very noticeable; attractive
ex> Claire has designed an eye-catching poster for our play.

* in the heat of the moment: without thinking; influenced by temporary emotions
ex> I apologize for what I said in the heat of the moment.
