PE 11/7 Vacation with the In-laws

1. a kick in the pants: 부끄러운 실패, 굴욕적인 퇴짜

ex> Finding out that my application was rejected was a kick in the pants.

2. get one's signals crossed: 의도를 잘못 파악하다

ex> I thought we were in agreement, but I found out later we'd gotten our signals crossed. He wanted to vote for the idea, and I wanted to suggest a revision.

3. save one's bacon: 어려운 상황에서 구하다, 위험을 모면하게 하다

ex> Man, you totally save my bacon by saying that girl's name. I completely forgot what it was!

ex> I couldn't think of anything to say to the woman at the bus stop, but I was saved by the bell when the bus arrived.
