PE 8/31 The Printer is Shot


* shot: unusable due to damage or wear
ex> I need new sandals: these ones are shot.
ex> Heather’s phone is shot because she dropped it in water.

* there is nothing for it: there is no solution or alternative
ex> We tried to find an exit that wasn’t locked, but there was nothing for it.

* saddled with: to be given an unwanted responsibility or problem
ex> The building’s residents did not want to be saddled with the cost of a new roof.

* overkill: much greater than what is needed
ex> Don’t you think a riding mower is overkill for this tiny lawn?
Note> “Overkill“is especially used to refer to a destructive nuclear capacity exceeding the amount needed to destroy an enemy.

* down the road: in the future; eventually
ex> Your eating habits could become a problem down the road.

* take steps: to do things in order to achieve a desired result
ex> Nora took steps to improve her study habits.
ex> Many countries have been taking steps to reduce greenhouse emissions.

@ Our printing needs are pretty modest.  우리가 프린터를 사용하는 용도가 그렇게 많은 건 아니다.
