PE 6/5 Auckland, New Zealand, “City of Sails”

Well, I figured it would be a good introduction to the City of Sails. Anyway, if we had stayed in the hotel, we would've fallen asleep and never gotten over our jet lag.
* jet lag: fatigue caused by traveling long distances
ex> Because she flew from west to east, she suffered jet lag for a longer period of time.

I can’t wait to see the rest of this gorgeous city! It’s truly a feast for the eyes.
* a feast for the eyes: a beautiful sight
ex> The banquet was not only delicious, it was a feast for the eyes in its presentation.

Let’s just take in this moment right now. The sun is dropping behind the skyline and lighting the whole sky bright pink.
* take in: to mentally absorb something
ex> Seeing so many of my old friends in one room was a lot to take in.

Aww! Is that a tear in your eye, Rick? Have you gone soft on me or should we just chalk it up to jet lag?
* go soft: to become uncharacteristically sentimental
= gone sentimental; gone emotional; gone softhearted
ex> My father tended to go soft when he was around babies and puppies.
Note> This expression also means to lose strength or determination.

* chalk something up: to attribute a cause for an outcome
ex> We chalked up the old man’s skill at billiards to his years of experience.
