6/3 Talk about elections in Korea.

Korea elects its president every five years.
ex> I moved to a new place every five years.

The president gets a five-year single term and cannot run for re-election.
ex> The chairman serves a five-year single term.
* run for re-election: 재출마하다
ex> Lawmakers can run for re-election.

The last presidential election was held at the end of the 2012. The president appoints his/her cabinet, which includes the prime minister and the ministers. On the other hand, the general election takes place every four years.
* cabinet: 내각

There are a total of 300 members of parliament.
* member of parliament: 국회의원
ex> He served as a member of parliament for three terms.

The last parliamentary election was held on April 11, 2012. The national assembly is the legislative body of the central government. Most lawmakers are elected directly, while some area elected through proportional representation.
* be elected directly: 직접 선출되다
ex> Some government officials are elected directly, some are not.
* proportional representation: 비례 대표제
* legislative body: 입법기관

Last of all, the local elections are held every four years.
* local election: 지방 선거
