PE 6/4 Paying for Coffee

There’s a catch – we have to bring our own coffee capsules to work. They’re making us pay for coffee!
* a catch: 문제

What’s the big deal? It’s highway robbery paying that much for a cup of coffee at work.
* highway robbery: charging too much for something
ex> Five dollars to make photocopies? That’s highway robbery!

I think you’re getting carried away.
* get carried away: to become overly excited about something; dramatically exaggerate something
ex> Try not to get too carried away when you see my new car.

You know how much coffee I drink in a day. I’ll go broke unless I cut back. And I don’t want to go through caffeine withdrawal.
* cut back: 줄이다, 삭제하다
* withdrawal: 금단 증상, 철회, 철수

Now you've gone off the deep end, David. Just buy the capsules and count your blessings that you work for a company that cares enough to buy an expensive machine for its employees.
* go off the deep end: to go too far; become overly dramatic about something
ex> After Jack returned from the war, he went off the deep end for a few years with drugs and alcohol.
* count one’s blessings: to be thankful for what one has
ex> Count your blessings every morning to start your day off in a good mood.

Ooh, look, hazelnut! And mocha! And Italian espresso! Okay, I take back everything I said – this is a change I can get behind.
* take back: to retract what one has said
ex> It was too late to take back the mean things said to the small child.
ex> Many things once said cannot be taken back.
