PE 6/2 Going to the Farmers’ Market

How come you never brought me here before, Erik? This place is amazing! I have never seen such fresh fruits and veggies in one place.

The farmers’ market beats the heck out of the supermarket, doesn't it? I’m sure I mentioned it to you before.
* beat the heck out of: a suggestion that something is a far better option or choice
ex> I never wanted to work in an office, but it beats the heck out of being unemployed.

The sign out front said that none of the veggies here were sourced from more than 30 miles away. I’m glad we can support local farmers.
* source: to get something from a specific place
ex> All of the wood used to build our house was sourced from the local mill.

Hey, there’s Rita from accounting selling strawberries! I remember she mentioned having a “strawberry patch” in her backyard, but I didn't picture it as a farm. That must be a rewarding side business to have.
* picture: to imagine what something will look like
= imagine; see; envision
ex> Picture yourself on a boat on a river.

Let’s go buy some strawberries from her after we get some carrots, apples, and hot peppers. I have a great juice recipe that will knock your socks off.
* knock one’s socks off: to amaze or impress someone
ex> The first time I heard Julie sing, it knocked my socks off.

Nothing beats fresh basil during the summer. And if I grow enough of it, I can make pesto sauce.

Promise me you’ll bring me here the next time you come. You kept this place under wraps from me for too long!
* keep something under wrap: to maintain a secret; not talk about something important
ex> I know you’re all excited about the launch of the new product, but we have to keep it under wraps until next Tuesday.
