12/19 Presidential Election


1. possibly: 어쩌면, 아마
ex> He is possibly the most handsome man in Korea.

2. be elected: 당선되다, 선출되다
ex> I was elected as the class president.

3. run for: ~에 출마하다
ex> She decided not to run for the president.
ex> What made you run for the mayor of Los Angeles?

4. be held: 열리다
ex> The by-election will be held on Dec 20th.
* by-election: 보궐 선거

5. nominate: 지명하다, 추천하다, 임명하다
ex> They had difficulty nominating their presidential candidate.

6. independent: 무소속의, 독립적인
ex> This news is from an independent news agency.

* secret ballot: 무기명 투표
* first-past-the-post: 비교 다수 득표주의
* ruling party: 집권당
* opposition party: 야당
* leading opposition party: 제1야당


@ It was a landslide victory.  완전 압승이었어.

2. She was elected as the first woman President of Korea.
3. People expected him to run for president.
4. He was nominated as the best actor in 1991.

  1. It's very sad that Korea has been divided to South and North. And more, we are divided by political stance, Left or Right?
    Their political stances are definitely different from the young or the old and the east or the west.
    I hope the new President can allow anyone in Korea live in peace and in truth.
