12/26 Drinking Etiquette


1. faux pas [|foʊ |pɑ:]: 실례, 결례
ex> Be careful not to commit a faux pas at the business dinner.

2. established: 확립된, 인정을 받는
ex> Our company is very established in the beverage industry.

3. inhibition: 억압, 억제, 어색함
ex> The students were shy and full of inhibitions with the new teacher.

4. obsolete  [|ɑ:bsə|li:t] : 쓰이지 않는, 한물간
ex> They say that oil will be obsolete when clean energy becomes more advanced.

5. norm: 표준, 일반적인 것
ex> We don't want to follow the norm.

6. dictate: 지시하다, 강요하다
ex> The chairman dictates the direction of the company.

* commit: 저지르다, 범하다
* prelude to: ~의 전도, 서막
* go Dutch: 비용을 나눠 내다
* take care of: ~을 처리하다


@ Just don't overdo it.  너무 무리만 하지 마.

1. Picking your nose in public is a social faux pas.
2. The designer was very established in the fashion world.
3. He has no inhibition when it comes to expressing his feelings.
4. My old computer is now outdated and obsolete.
