PE 10/29 Dressing For Fall


1. out of place: (특정한 상황에) 맞지 않는, 부적절한
ex> The struggling artist felt out of place in the company of wealthy folks at the Country Club.
ex> When Sarah immigrated to the U.S. from Korea, she felt out of place in her new school and environment.

2. stick out like a sore thumb:  눈에 띄다, 두드러지다
ex> Do you think I'll stick out like a sore thumb if I wear this hat to the party?

3. get away with: ~을 교묘히 모면하다, ~을 훔쳐 달아나다
ex> Do you actually think you can get away with what you did?
ex> Thieves got away with computer equipment worth $30,000.
cf> get away with murder: do something wrong without being punished, criticized, etc
ex> His latest book is rubbish! He seems to think that because he's a famous author he can get away with murder!

* accordingly: 그에 따라
* conscientious [|kɑ:nʃi|enʃəs]: 양심적인, 성실한, 세심한
* vibe: 분위기, 느낌 ex> I have bad vibes about this guy.
* discreet [dɪ|skri:t]: 신중한, 조심스러운
* pick up on: ~이해하다, 알아차리다 ex> He picked up on her feelings of unease.
