3/10 Describe the countryside in Korea.

Since rice is the staple food on the Korean dinner table, you are likely to see many rice paddies in the countryside.
* staple food: 주식
* rice paddy:
ex> This area used to be rice paddies when I was young.
ex> Noodles are the staple food in the country.

In the middle of rice paddies, you can often see a scarecrow or other devices that are designed to scare off sparrows.
* scarecrow: 허수아비
* scare off: 쫓아내다

There are also orchards that grow a wide range of fruits, such as apples, grapes, peaches and pears.
* orchard: 과수원
* a wide range of: 다양한 종류의
ex> My insurance provides a wide range of health benefits.

You can also see lots of greenhouses that grow fruits all year round.
* all year round: 일 년 내내 = all around the year
ex> The weather in my hometown is mild all year round.

There are also farms that raise livestock, such as cows, pigs, chickens and ducks.
* raise livestock: 가축을 기르다
ex> There used to be many farmers that raised livestock.

As for buildings, there aren't too many tall structures in the countryside.

1.      The staple food for Koreans is rice.
