PE 3/12 Where’s the Beef?

We need to get on this now. Maybe they can get the driver to come back right away and give us what’s missing.
* get on: to start working on a task

Hello, this is Linda at The Old Station House Restaurant, we’re in a serious pickle because of our delivery today… (fades out)
* in a pickle: being in a difficult situation or circumstance
ex> After her car ran out of gas, Colleen was in quite a pickle.

I’m going to call back and give the manager a piece of my mind.
* a piece of one’s mind: an expression of one’s true feelings about something
ex> If I wasn't afraid of being fired, I’d give the boss a piece of my mind.

I guess we have to go to Plan B – change the special to a vegetarian meal and offer steak sandwiches instead of burgers.
* plan B: an alternate course of action
ex> When the car failed to start, they switched to plan B and took Bob’s motorcycle.

After lunch, we’ll put the manager on speakerphone so we can both chew him out.
* chew someone out: to reprimand someone
ex> The coach chewed me out for dropping the football in the end zone.
