PE 5/9 I’ll Drive!

Well, I don’t ride shotgun with a woman, so I guess we’re at a bit of an impasse.
* ride shotgun: to sit next to the driver in a vehicle
ex> Whoever rides shotgun with me has to be good with a map.
* impasse [|ɪmpӕs]: 교착상태
ex> The company says it has reached an impasse in negotiations with the union.

Excuse me? It’s my car, so I’m driving. Don’t be such a male chauvinist pig!
* male chauvinist pig [|ʃoʊvɪnɪst]: a man who espouses his belief that men are superior to women
ex> If you act like a male chauvinist pig in today’s business environment, you won’t last very long.

Here’s a fact for you; women pay lower car insurance rates than men. How do you like them apples?
* How do you like them apples?: a mocking or boastful way of saying “What do you think of that?”
ex> “How do you like them apples?” the batter yelled to the pitcher after he hit a home run.

You are really digging yourself a hole. I never knew you had such deep-seated disrespect for women.
* dig oneself (into) a hole: to get oneself into a difficult situation
ex> After I lied about where I was, I kept digging myself deeper and deeper into a hole.

You've got it all wrong. If anything, I’m a feminist! I love women and wish the world was more fair to the fairer sex!
* the fairer sex: 여성

You can’t have it both ways, Jeff. I've got to go now. I might talk to you later.
* have it both ways: to agree with both sides of an issue
ex> You can’t have it both ways – either you support my decision or you don’t.
