PE 5/5 Spring Allergies

Maybe I should close the doors and windows and just wait it out with the air purifier on. Come and get me when you get the all-clear.
* wait something out: to delay doing something until conditions are right
ex> Look at those clouds rolling in! We should wait out the storm before we launch the sailboat.
ex> Don’t invest your money while the stock market is so volatile. I think you should wait it out.
* the all-clear: the signal that it is safe
ex> The doctor gave the soccer player the all-clear to participate in Saturday’s game.

I totally feel for you, but have you considered going to an allergist to see if he can treat your problem with shots, so you won’t suffer so much every year?
* feel for somebody: to empathize with someone
ex> I really feel for you. I have had several bad breakups too.

That’s dumb! It takes about six months or more of steady treatments to nip it in the bud.
* nip something in the bud: to stop something from happening before it gets worse.
ex> The government sent out the army to try to nip the rebellion in the bud.

Yeah, I know that now. The allergies kicked in again when the fall pollen season started.
* kick in: (informal) to begin to work
ex> When the FTA kicks in, businesses in both countries will benefit.

See? If you had stuck with the treatments, the fall allergy season would have been easy and you wouldn’t have swollen eyes, a runny nose, and an itchy throat.
