Explain what BRICS is.
BRICS is the acronym for an economic association of countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
The group was brought together by their common bond of fast economic growth.
Members are all new key players in the global economic structure.
They have all industrialized quickly and garner influence in their own regions as well as the world.
At the most recent BRICS summit, the members revealed their long term goal.
This is to create a world financial institution, somewhat like the IMF.
But the institution will not be dominated by western powers of the past.
Rather, the aim is to shift the scales and achieve a "new paradigm" in world economics.
