Talk about the origin of the term "bucket list."
About six years ago, I saw a great movie called "The Bucket List" starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman.
A bucket list is simply a list of things that you hope to do before you die.
The term actually comes from an English idiom, to kick the bucket.
A slang dictionary published in 1785 defined it as "to die."
There have been several theories as to the origin of this term.
One theory suggests that the phrase originates from a method of committing suicide. People stand on an overturned bucket with a noose tied around their neck.
When the bucket is kicked, well, you know what happens.
Just so you know, skydiving is at the top of my bucket list.
