9/27 Makeup

I ,on the other hand, have no makeup skills whatsoever.
* whatsoever: 전혀, 무슨 일이 있어도
ex> She has no experience whatsoever.
ex> The girl made no response to my question whatsoever.

I thought it was high time to ask her for some advice.
* high time: 적기, 적절할 때
ex> It's high time you took responsibility for your actions.
ex> It's high time for me to get up early and start exercise.

She's a makeup artist and knows many tricks of the trade.
* tricks of the trade: 장사의 기술, 전문적인 지식, 효과적인 방법
ex> She's only been here a couple of months, so she's still learning the tricks of the trade.

I told her to keep it simple and not to go overboard.
* go overboard: 지나치게 열중하다, 과장하다
ex> You're going overboard with the comments.
ex> Don't go overboard on fitness.

Since I have unruly eyebrows, she plucked them a bit and combed them into place.
* unruly [ʌn|ru:li] : 다루기 힘든, 제어하기 어려운
ex> an unruly class/behavior
* pluck: 뽑다 (out)
ex> She plucked out a grey hair.
cf> He took the guitar and plucked at the strings.

Then, she put on some mascara so my eyes would stand out.
* stand out: 두드러지다, 돋보이다
ex> This sexy dress will really make you stand out at the party.

Finally, she topped it all off with lip gloss.
* top something off (with sth) ~로 ~을 마무리짓다
ex> Jane was wearing a very colourful outfit, topped off with a dramatic hat.


@ It is their grand opening today.  오늘이 개업일이야.

1. They have no business here whatsoever.
2. It's high time you started your homework.
3. I know all of the tricks of the trade.
4. I think you went overboard with the perfume.
