PE 9/4 In the Office

I know you're very dedicated to this company, but what we really can't afford is for you to get burned out
* get burned out: to do something so long and so intensely that one gets sick and tired of doing it.
= run out of steam, get worn out, feel drained, feel knocked out.
ex> I got burned out as a competitive dancer. I can't stand to practice dance anymore.

I've been burying myself in my work because my wife and I aren't getting along well.
* bury oneself in: to be very preoccupied with sth
ex> burying yourself in work for too long will ruin your social life.

It sounds like you two have hit a rough patch. It happens in every marriage.
* a rough patch: a lot of problems in a period of one's life.
ex> His business hit [went through] a rough patch during the recession that began in 2008.

What do you suggest I do? I really dread going home sometimes.
* dread: to anticipate with fear or great apprehension
ex> I dread speaking in public. It makes me sick to my stomach.

My being distant isn't helping things, huh?
* be distant: to not be so close to someone as you once were
ex> He doesn't understand why his girlfriend is being so distant all of a sudden.

I think what you two need is a break from the day-to-day drudgery.
* drudgery [|drʌdƷəri] : 고됨, 단조로움
ex> People want to get away from drudgery of their everyday lives.
