PE 9/25 New Job Assignment

I can't believe they're doing this idiot's shuffle again!
* shuffle: 뒤섞기, 재편성
ex> Shuffle the cards and deal out seven to each player
ex> I shuffled the documents on my desk.

I spent the last two years learning the ins and outs of my job and making contacts.
* ins and outs: the intricate details of how to do sth or how sth works
ex> Once you learn the ins and outs of your job, you shouldn't allow yourself to get complacent; you must always be learning.

They're throwing that right out the window.
* throw sth right out the window: to dispose of a valuable thing that took a great deal of time or effort to obtain
ex> Tom ran off with his secretary and threw 10 years of marriage right out the window.

They're trying to create more valuable employees who can fill in in a pinch in other parts of the company.
* in a pinch: during a difficult time
ex> A good friend is one who is always there in a pinch.
cf> feel pinched/feel the pinch = to experience hardship because of having too little money
ex> Mr. Sachs really feels the pinch now that he's retired.
ex> Bad management has put the company's future in a pinch.

I just hope they don't send me to work in personnel - people calling in sick and narcing on their co-workers all the time.
* narc on [nɑ:rk]: to report someone for a petty or minor violation
ex> I hate that guy Carl. He's always narcing on everyone for the dumbest things.
* narc (n, slang) = a federal agent or police officer who enforces the laws regarding illicit sale or use of drugs and narcotics
ex> Don't trust that guy, man. I think he's a narc

I think accounting would be worse - crunching numbers and stuff.
* crunch numbers: to do math related to business or personal finances
ex> I crunched the numbers and figured out how we can take a vacation to France this year.
