PE 7/4 Taking “Selfies” in Public

It isn’t a selfie if you take it for me. Then it’s just a run-of-the-mill picture. You obviously don’t get it.
* run-of-the-mill: ordinary; common
ex> Although her own clothes were run-of-the-mill, she impressed the manager of the clothing store enough to hire her.

I do get it: you’re completely into yourself and want the world to know it. Frankly, Alexis, it’s a real turn-off for most guys.
* a turn-off: something that someone does that is found to be distasteful
ex> I find it a turn-off when someone talks one the phone in a restaurant.

Trust me, I’m really embarrassed for you. When people spend every waking hour taking pictures of themselves and looking at their reflections in every window or mirror they walk by, it’s a serious sign of insecurity and low self-esteem.
* spend every waking hour: to use the entire day to do something
ex> Jane spends every waking hour worrying about things she can’t control.

Oh no! Do you think other people are of the same mind as you?
* be of the same mind: to share the same opinion as someone else
= be on the same wavelength; be on the same page; share the same thoughts
ex> Your mother and I are of the same mind about how we should punish you.

They were checking me out the whole time we were in there. I’m surprised you didn’t get mad.
* check someone/something out: to look at someone/something with interest
ex> “Check her out,” the teenager boy said to his friend about the new girl in class.

They were laughing at you! You didn’t see them shaking their heads and snickering each time you took a selfie?

* snicker: 낄낄대다
